Dear Aransas Bay Chapter Members
I would like to remind you all that the Annual Abandoned Crab Trap Cleanup is scheduled for the time period of February 15 through the 24th. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Coastal Fisheries Division will have an airboat and other bay boats at the Goose Island boat ramp this coming Saturday morning, February 16. at 9:00am. Volunteers with and without boats are encouraged to support this program by coming out and taking part in the cleanup. A flyover of the Aransas Bay system will be conducted on Friday to assist in locating the areas with the highest densities of abandoned crab traps. This flyover will help in organizing the deployment of volunteers to these specific areas on Saturday morning. We encourage you to come out and spend the day with your fellow members and friends, as we all work together to make the Aransas Bay system a cleaner area. We would like to remind you to be prepared, and wear the appropriate clothing, have gloves, and would suggest wearing waders if you will be entering the water.
For more information about the crab trap cleanup, please visit https://tpwd.texas.gov/landwater/water/conservation/Crab_trap/Crab_trap.phtml
We look forward to seeing you Saturday morning. Your support is needed, and be sure to bring a friend.
General Membership Meetings: Held second Tuesday of the month of January through November at 6:30pm at a local restaurant. Contact the president either by email to obtain location. President Bud Kittle firstname.lastname@example.org.
