CURRENTS – Oct/Nov 2020
Hello Everyone, I hope you all are well and staying safe out there. First off, I would like to thank everyone that purchased a boat raffle ticket, we really appreciate the support. For a while there we didn’t know if we were going to be able to have the raffle due to the current situation but with your help we were able to sell all the boat tickets and the raffle was a huge success! Next, thank you to everyone that participated in our online auction which was another huge success. We missed not being able to gather with everyone at the banquet this year, but we did the best we could with what we had and were able to raise some money for CCA. Thank you all again and be on the lookout for next year’s event calendar. With any luck this will be over and we can resume our regularly scheduled program!
Next, I would like to thank all the ladies that came out and fished Lingerie on the Bay this September. This was another event that we didn’t know if we could pull off due to COVID but as always with everyone’s help, it was another successful event. Congratulations to all the winners and from the Fort Bend Fishermen group thank you ladies, we hope to see you next year!
Well, the summer is finally starting to wind down but what a summer it’s been. I’m not sure if it was because everyone was stuck at home or fishing has become more popular, but I have never seen so many boats on the water. It goes to show how much conservation does for our waterways, when that many boats can be on the water and still catch good fish, something being done right. Speaking of fish, we had some younger members out chasing the big STAR trout this summer. The picture is Lane Guest with a nice trout fishing with topwater. Good fish Lane! And on a more lighthearted note, Doug Upp, the ghost of the salt grass has been spotted in Matagorda again. Good thing is he doesn’t eat much so he hasn’t done much harm to the fish population. So, if you are down Matagorda way and run into Doug give him a wave, but if you stop be prepared, he is not much of a talker, but he’ll do a number on your beer cooler! Until next time, stay safe out there.
