FORD OF BOERNE – Proud sponsor of CCA Heart of the Hills

Howdy from the Heart of the Hills! We have had a busy Spring and Summer. On April 18, chapter members enjoyed an Anglers’ Night Out at Dog and Pony Grill. A big “Thank You” to Ms. Jensen Smith from Harte Research Fisheries and Ocean Health who spoke to our group about current Harte projects. It is always fun to hear about conservation in action.

In June, a group of our chapter volunteers participated in the Inter Chapter Challenge fishing tournament. The highlight for our chapter was when 7-year-old, Mr. Crockett Budnik, caught a redfish with multiple spots (6 on one side) and won the Spot Pot prize of an Anastasia Musick Redfish print and a substantial cash side pot. Here is the cool back story…on Friday evening, Crockett made a deal with his dad, Ethan, that if he would pay his $20 entry for the side Spot Pot that “WHEN” he caught the winning fish, he would pay his dad back the $20 entry (and keep the rest of the prize money for himself!). Crockett made a savvy business deal and reaped the rewards! Congratulations to Crockett and to Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Budnik of Boerne.

The 2024 banquet was held on Thursday, September 19th and it was a HUGE success! Special thanks to all attendees, volunteers, and sponsors for your support, together we helped raise crucial funds that will help ensure the health and conservation of our marine resources and anglers’ access to them here in Texas.
