Howdy from the Heart of the Hills! A group of chapter volunteers fished the Inter Chapter Challenge Fishing Tournament in Fulton in June. Everyone had a great time and we finished in 4th place with a 4 redfish stringer totaling 107.25″ – we just couldn’t find a keeper flounder…maybe next year. Thanks to the CCA staff for hosting this event.

Two somber notes: Our hearts go out to those who sustained damage and loss in the July 2026 floods throughout the Heart of the Hills and beyond. We wish you a speedy recovery. We mourn the loss of our dear friend and past Chapter president and treasurer, James Alan “Jim” Simmons, who passed on July 1st. Jim was a founding member of this chapter and dedicated many, many volunteer hours to CCA conservation efforts. He was a big man with an even bigger heart and his presence will be sorely missed. Our condolences to his devoted wife of almost 58 years, Kathy, son Scot Simmons and daughter-in-law Stacy, daughter Molly Simmons Sartors and the entire Simmons family. Tight lines, friend. We will fish together again!
