CURRENTS – June/July 2018

On April 5, 2018 we hosted the 21st Annual Prairie Chapter Banquet at Cat Spring. The meal of prime rib and shrimp was catered by Mikeskas BBQ, and it was, as usual, outstanding.

The biggest attraction was the live auction, which consisted of a deer feeder, prints, fishing and hunting trips, and the Bull Red Table. For last six years we have had the Bull Red Table in the auction, and the 2017 winners were Betty and Vern from the Diamond H Ranch. Thanks to Mark Switzer for being the auctioneer. We also had a silent auction with many fine gifts to bid on. Thanks to Academy Sports + Outdoors, CCA, and to all the sponsors who donated items. This year we had some new and different games. The most popular games were the cap and tumbler raffle games. For just $20, a buyer had a chance to win one of six guns including: a Henry Golden Boy 30-30, a Henry Golden Boy .22, a Henry Golden Boy .22 Mag, a Savage .22 LR, a Beretta A300 Outlander 12 Ga., or a Remington 783 rifle. Also, for $50 guests could participate in the soft sided cooler raffle game to win a Glock 19.

I would like to thank Brian Weaver, the CCA Texas staff, all the sponsors who donated items and the board members who helped make this a great success. Thanks to all who purchased Corporate Tables.

We will be having our Annual Kid Fish on August 11, 2018 at the Walters Pond. Contact us at Wittenburg Printing for time and directions, (979) 877-5598.

Thank you, and I hope to see everyone next year! – Ron Chess, (979) 525-9254
