Here’s a look at what’s been happening and what’s on the horizon at CCA San Gabriel. Anglers’ Night Out: A Night of Fellowship and Insight: On May 14, 2025 the CCA San Gabriel Chapter hosted an unforgettable Anglers’ Night Out, featuring Chris Bush, a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department educator and the founder and host of the Speckled Truth podcast. The event drew an impressive turnout, filling the room with anglers, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts eager to connect and learn.
Chris Bush captivated the audience with his expertise on pursuing trophy speckled trout, sharing practical tips and inspiring stories that resonated with both seasoned anglers and newcomers. The evening was more than just a masterclass in fishing—it was a celebration of fellowship, with lively conversations and a shared commitment to conservation. Attendees left inspired, not only by Chris’s insights but also by the sense of community that defines CCA San Gabriel.
Gearing Up for the 2025 CCA San Gabriel’s 23rd Annual Banquet: The chapter’s board and committee are hard at work planning the 2025 CCA San Gabriel Banquet, set for August 7, 2025, at the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center in Georgetown. This signature event promises to be a highlight of the year, bringing together members, supporters, and sponsors for an evening of celebration, fundraising, and advocacy for coastal conservation. The banquet will feature exciting live auctions, raffles, and opportunities to connect with fellow anglers and conservationists. Our team is focused on making this year’s event bigger and better, with every detail designed to support CCA’s mission of protecting Texas’ coastal resources for future generations. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details!
Building Connections Across CCA: To strengthen ties within the broader CCA network, San Gabriel board members have been attending banquets hosted by other chapters across Texas. These visits provide valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, share best practices, and build relationships with fellow CCA members. By fostering these connections, our chapter is not only learning from others but also contributing to the collective strength of CCA’s statewide efforts. These efforts reflect our commitment to collaboration and ensure that our chapter remains a dynamic part of the larger CCA family.
Interchapter Challenge Fishing Tournament: Excitement is building for the upcoming Interchapter Challenge Fishing Tournament in June. San Gabriel has our top anglers ready to compete and with the insights from Chris Bush’s ANO presentation, there is no stopping us!
Looking Ahead: The CCA San Gabriel Chapter is more than a group of anglers—it’s a community united by a shared love for Texas’ coast and a determination to protect it. From the success of our Anglers’ Night Out to the anticipation surrounding our upcoming banquet and fishing tournament, our chapter is buzzing with energy and purpose. We’re grateful for the dedication of our members, the leadership of our board, the support of our partners, volunteers and all of whom make our work possible.
As we move forward, we invite you to join us—whether at an event, on the water, or as a volunteer. Together, we’re ensuring that Texas’ coastal heritage thrives for generations to come.
